Who Jesus Says His Disciples Are..

The mark of a disciple by America’s standards:

  • Believe that Jesus exists
  • Try to be a good person (not necessarily under the leadership/lordship of Jesus)

Who Jesus says His disciples are:

  • John 8:31- “So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples,”

  • John 13:34-35- “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”

  • John 15:8- “By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.”

  • Luke 14:26- “If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple.”

  • Luke 14:27- “Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.”

  • Luke 14:33- “So therefore, any one of you who does not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.”

There is a cost to following Him. There is fruit in keeping with repentance. There’s no skirting around sanctification. There’s no bypassing the refining fire. 6 out of 10 adults in America claim to be Christian; but when their ideologies were compared to the Bible itself, actually 4% of our nation actually held a Biblical worldview. It’s time for the Church in America to arise and shine. It’s time for the Body of Christ in America to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom to professed “Christians,” that they may actually become disciples of Jesus Christ. James 2:18-19 says this: “But someone will say, ‘You have faith and I have works.’ Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that God is one; you do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!”

May we be found knowing Him, really knowing Him. Love you, sisters.

Ever-following The Way,

Jada
